The Bell Factory Field Maintenance and Component Overhaul Training Seminars
for the Bell 47 were transferred to Southern Illinois University in June, 1975;
the Bell 205A-1 Field Maintenance in June,1982; and the Bell 214B Field Maintenance in July, 1992.

Southern Illinois University was chartered in 1869. The University initiated instruction in 1874.
Since that time, the University has sought to meet the educational needs of the people whom it serves
as a public institution. The University now has a student population of over 23,000 students coming
from many states and foreign countries.
The University comprises a faculty and the facilities to offer general and professional training ranging
from Bachelor of Science in Aviation Technologies to doctoral degrees to include medicine and law.
The Department of Aviation Technologies, under the College of Applied Sciences and Arts, offers training
in the following areas:
• Aviation Maintenance Technology qualifying for the FAA A&P Certificate
• Bachelor's Degree in Aviation Technologies with specializations in Aircraft Maintenance,
Helicopter Maintenance, and Aviation Electronics
