Aviation Technologies (Bachelor of Science)
The Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree program in Aviation Technologies is
designed to enhance technical training that students have received in
aviation maintenance or electronics. This technical training may
be acquired through SIUC (FAA, airframe and powerplant certificate), at
other post-secondary institutions, in the military or in the case of aviation
maintenance, at other FAA approved maintenance schools certified under F.A.R. Part 147.
Licensed A&Ps or transfer students who have graduated from similar airframe
and powerplant maintenance programs taught at other FAA approved schools
certified under FAR Part 147, as well as transfer students who have graduated
from two-year Electronics Technology programs and freshmen interested
in Aviation Electronics, can be accommodated in the Bachelor's degree
in Aviation Technologies. Through the SIUC Capstone Option, qualified
transfer students with technical associate degrees receive full transfer
credit and are able to graduate in two years (60 semester hours beyond
their associate degrees). Licensed A&Ps are awarded similar
transfer credit and may also qualify for Capstone.
Aviation Technologies has signed a number of "Program Articulation Agreements"
with aviation-related community college degree programs in order to help
facilitate the transfer of these particular community college aviation students to SIUC.
